Disadvantages of blow molding
- Blow molding tooling cost is 10 to 20 times the cost of rotational molding tooling due to the high pressures required to manufacture blow molded products.
 - It is difficult to control the wall thickness of blow molded parts due to the way in which the pressure is used to inflate the plastic charge.
 - There are limited product applications for blow molding such as bottles and fuel tanks.
 - Blow molded part geometry is limited whereas rotational molding part geometry can be complex.
 - Parts are weaker and more susceptible to failure in the corners.
 
Advantages of blow molding
- Blow molded parts have a low cycle time.
 - Parts are relatively inexpensive.
