Step 1: Requirement docking
The first step in manufacturing is to obtain samples or product drawings provided by customers. When receiving the sample, P&M will first conduct measurement points to lay the foundation for subsequent work; If there are already product drawings, you can proceed directly to the next step. In this stage, it is crucial to confirm the process requirements, dimensions, and other details with the customer. Only through sufficient communication can we ensure that the mold meets the customer's needs and provide accurate direction for subsequent production.
Step 2: Styling Design
According to the information confirmed by the customer, P&M has started to produce the mold shape. In this step, if the mold needs to design a hot runner, it is also necessary to include the hot runner in the design considerations. The hot runner system can improve the utilization rate of plastic, reduce waste generation, and make the flow of plastic in the mold more uniform, thereby improving the molding quality of the skateboard. Design should not only consider the functionality of the mold, but also take into account both aesthetics and practicality, providing a precise blueprint for subsequent mold production.
Step 3: Material Preparation
The selection of materials directly affects the quality and service life of the mold. P&M usually purchases suitable steel materials and carries out cutting operations. High quality steel material has the characteristics of high hardness, good processability, wear resistance, and impact resistance, making it an ideal material for making skateboard injection molds.
Step 4: Processing and Forming
Processing and forming is one of the most critical stages in the manufacturing process, including rough machining and precision machining. Rough machining is mainly achieved through processes such as dynamic fixed mold wire cutting and CNC milling, which preliminarily outline the shape of the mold and leave appropriate machining allowance for subsequent precision machining. Each process requires operators to possess exquisite skills and rich experience, strictly control processing parameters to ensure the quality of the mold.
Step 5: Surface treatment and mold closing
After processing and forming, the mold needs to undergo surface treatment, usually using polishing treatment to ensure a smooth and flat surface of the mold. A smooth mold surface can make it easier for plastic to flow during injection molding, avoid surface defects, and also facilitate mold demolding. After polishing treatment, the surface roughness of the mold is greatly reduced, which improves the aesthetics and practicality of the mold. After completing the surface treatment, perform the mold closing operation, aligning and bonding the two halves of the mold together to ensure that the structure of the mold can be aligned correctly. The molding process requires precise positioning and adjustment, and any deviation may cause problems with the mold during use, affecting the quality of the skateboard molding.
Step 6: Installation and Debugging
Installation and debugging are the final key steps in the manufacturing of skateboard injection molds. During the installation process, the staff need to install each component in the correct position and make necessary adjustments and calibrations. Only by confirming that there are no issues during the debugging process can we ensure that the mold can work properly and produce skateboards that meet quality standards. The debugging content includes checking whether the opening and closing of the mold are smooth, whether the injection molding system is working properly, and whether the cooling system is effective. Only after strict installation and debugging can the mold be officially put into use, safeguarding the production of skateboards.
