The production of camera injection molds needs to combine precision structural molding, optical performance requirements and automation adaptation requirements
1. Core design points
1) Parting and slider structure design
The camera housing often contains multi-directional undercut structures (such as lens buckles, heat dissipation holes, and wiring harness interfaces), and a front mold slider (T-slot or hydraulic drive) and a rear mold inclined top combination solution are required. For example, the metal inserts of the mobile phone camera frame need to be precisely positioned through a split insert design. The mold needs to be equipped with a placement slot with an adsorption function, and the four corners of the metal inserts are fixed by vacuum negative pressure to avoid injection molding deviation.
The parting surface needs to avoid the appearance surface, and the gate is usually selected in a hidden area (such as the inside of the battery compartment). Point gates or diving glue are used to avoid weld marks affecting optical performance
2) Dense core and cooling system
The slender core (such as the lens mounting hole) needs to be made of high-wear-resistant steel (NAK80 or S136), and a copper cooling rod is built in to improve heat dissipation efficiency and prevent deformation. The four corners of the mold core are designed with 5° tiger's mouth positioning, and the mold closing accuracy is ≤0.01mm.
The cooling system adopts an elastic liquid bag design, and the circulating coolant improves the uniformity of heat dissipation, which is suitable for the heat dissipation requirements of complex hollow structures.
3) Hot runner and ejection optimization
Multi-cavity molds recommend hot runner systems to reduce waste and ensure melt fluidity, which is suitable for the production of thin-walled parts such as camera bases. (At the same time, we can also choose cold runners, which is determined by the customer's budget and product structure)
The ejection mechanism uses Z-shaped ejectors and manipulators to collaborate in demolding. Transparent parts need to avoid scratches. Some cases integrate CCD vision systems to achieve automatic sorting
2. Technical difficulties and solutions
1) Metal insert positioning and demolding
Problem: The metal inserts (including bottom frames and triangular negatives) of the mobile phone camera frame are easily offset due to injection pressure.
Solution: The lower mold is designed with a placement groove with vacuum adsorption function, and the four corners of the metal insert are adsorbed through the combination of vertical ventilation channels and annular ventilation channels; after the mold is opened, the air supply mode is switched, and the high-pressure gas blows up the insert to assist demolding
2) Requirements for sealing of optical components
Problem: The clearance between the lens and the shell must be ≤0.05mm, and uneven shrinkage can easily lead to light leakage or water seepage.
Solution: The split insert design reserves mold repair margin, combines SPC process control to monitor dimensional stability, and automatically identifies the clearance through the CCD detection system
3) Integrated molding of multiple wiring harnesses
Problem: The 180-degree automotive camera wiring harness requires multiple simultaneous injections, and traditional molds are inefficient.
Solution: Mold strip combination design (including mold strip guide column positioning), integrated hot runner system and wire fixing plate, realize synchronous positioning injection molding of multiple wire harnesses, and the three-core structure of the mold core ensures the consistency of the bending angle of the wire harness
3 Material and process selection
1) Mold steel
Preferably choose 718H, S136 (corrosion resistance) or NAK80 (high polishability), key inserts need vacuum quenching treatment to extend life (at the same time, we will give the best mold material selection according to the customer's budget and product design)
2) Injection molding parameter control
Use 90-700T injection molding machine, mold temperature controller accurately controls temperature (±1℃), transparent lens cover requires oil circulation system to reduce shrinkage deformation, and is produced in a 100,000-level dust-free workshop
3) Surface treatment
The shell often requires etching process or frosted surface treatment, and the mold cavity adopts leather grain design to improve anti-slip and aesthetics (we have a variety of different mold matte leather grain effects, we will send it to customers through videos, so that customers can choose by themselves)

A: Mold Payment: 40% deposit by T/T in advance, 30% second mold payment before sending out the first trial samples, 30% mold balance after you agree the final samples.
B:Production Payment: 50% deposit in advance, 50% before sending out the final goods.
