Router injection mold production needs to take into account precision, heat dissipation requirements and complex structure molding

1. Core design points

1) Parting and slider structure design

The router shell often contains multi-directional undercut structures (such as heat dissipation holes and snap grooves), and a front mold slider (T-slot or hydraulic drive) and a rear mold inclined top combination solution are required. For example, the heat dissipation hole area requires a split insert design to ensure smooth demoulding and no clamping lines on the appearance.

The parting surface needs to avoid the appearance surface, and the gate is usually selected in a hidden area (such as the inside of the battery compartment). Point gates or diving injection are used to avoid premature cooling of the molten plastic and cause surface defects


2) Optimization of precision cores and cooling systems

Slender cores (such as bolt forming grooves) need to use high-wear-resistant steel (NAK80 or S136), and built-in copper cooling rods to improve heat dissipation efficiency and prevent deformation. The four corners of the mold core are designed with 5° tiger's mouth positioning to ensure that the mold clamping accuracy is ≤0.01mm.

The cooling tank adopts an elastic liquid bag design, which improves the uniformity of heat dissipation by circulating coolant, especially suitable for the heat dissipation needs of complex hollow structures


3) Hot runner and ejector mechanism design

The hot runner system is recommended for multi-cavity molds to reduce waste and ensure melt fluidity, which is suitable for the production of thin-walled parts such as router covers.

The ejector mechanism uses a Z-shaped ejector and a manipulator to collaborate in demolding. Transparent parts need to avoid scratches. Some cases integrate CCD vision systems to achieve automatic sorting


2. Technical difficulties and solutions

1) The problem of residual hard blocks at the injection port

Problem: The temperature difference of the molten plastic on both sides of the injection port causes residual hard blocks, affecting the surface quality of the finished product.

Solution: The separation mechanism (blocking plate) and the constant temperature heating plate are combined to separate the cooling zone and the heating zone to prevent hard block blockage and improve the yield rate


2) Complex hollow structure molding defects

Problem: The heat dissipation hole or sound guide tube area is prone to weld marks or uneven shrinkage.

Solution: Optimize gate layout (such as banana-shaped gate), balance melt flow path with in-mold hot cutting technology, and monitor dimensional consistency through SPC process control


3) Low efficiency of automated demolding

Problem: The shell and mold fit well, and the efficiency of manual removal is low.

Solution: Integrated ejector mechanism (motor-driven bidirectional threaded rod), push the ejector plate to eject the shell out of the mold cavity to achieve rapid demolding


3. Material and process selection

1) Mold steel

Preferably choose 718H, S136 (corrosion resistance) or NAK80 (high polishability), key inserts need vacuum quenching treatment to extend service life


2) Injection molding parameter control

Use 90-700T injection molding machine, mold temperature controller accurately controls temperature (±1℃), transparent parts need oil circulation system to reduce shrinkage deformation


3) Surface treatment and dustproof design

The shell often needs frosted surface or etching process to improve anti-slip performance, and the mold cavity uses leather grain treatment.

The injection hole is equipped with a removable dust cover, which is fixed by the first card block and the card slot to prevent dust from entering and affecting subsequent injection molding.


4) Implementation suggestions

Drawing and process verification:

Refer to the 3D drawings of the router shell provided by Maike Mold Network (including hot runner and cooling water channel design), and the UG mold splitting case can be combined with the inclined guide column slider core pulling mechanism optimization.

Before mass production, the T0 stage focuses on verifying the slider movement stability and heat dissipation performance test, and optimizing the gate position in combination with mold flow analysis

A: Mold Payment: 40% deposit by T/T in advance, 30% second mold payment before sending out the first trial samples, 30% mold balance after you agree the final samples.
